If truth outranks your ego, correction is a favor, not an insult.
Marcus reminds himself that being wrong is not a defeat but a chance to move closer to the truth. The mechanism is a hierarchy of values: if truth stands above ego, someone who corrects you is doing you a favor, not an insult. A doctor who accepts a colleague's correction before surgery saves a patient precisely because she did not defend her diagnosis. The ego is the only thing lost.
