Happiness is an inner conviction, not an external condition.

Seneca emphasizes that happiness is not an external fact but an inner conviction. You can have everything you need, but if your mind refuses to acknowledge it, you are unhappy. A person living in abundance who constantly compares himself to wealthier others will never be happy, regardless of circumstances.
