“Attack where he is unprepared; appear where you are not expected.”Sun Tzu · Arta războiului · -500 · capitolul 1
Strike at weak and unexpected points to gain the advantage of surprise.
Sun Tzu describes the principle of strategic surprise: don't go where the enemy expects you, but create imbalance. If you attack an unguarded point and suddenly appear elsewhere, the opponent disperses his forces and becomes vulnerable. A commander who sends part of his army for a frontal attack while the rest circles behind applies exactly this rule.
Why it matters In competition—whether launching a product or making a career move—unexpected actions give you the initiative.
