To win, conceal your strength to mislead your opponent.
Sun Tzu advises hiding your true capabilities to make the enemy underestimate you. If you appear weak, the adversary becomes arrogant and makes mistakes. For example, a sports team might intentionally play below its level in the first half, then attack with full force when the opponents become careless.
Sun Tzu does not say to always hide, but to choose the right moment to reveal yourself. When you conceal your strength, you make the other person believe they are in control. In the office, if you already know the answer to a problem, do not rush to say it. Let your colleagues propose wrong solutions. When they make mistakes, you can step in with the correct answer and appear as the savior. That is the trap: you let them think they are ahead, then you overtake them.
