Deception is the fundamental principle of warfare, turning predictability into a disadvantage.

Sun Tzu states that in conflict, being honest or predictable means losing. Deception – whether feigning weakness, hiding intentions, or creating false alarms – is essential to gain an advantage. For example, a commander might pretend to attack in one place while striking in another. It is an art of manipulating the enemy's perception.
