Life is short, and time keeps flying whether we act or not.

The Bird of Time has but a little way / To flutter—and the Bird is on the WingOmar Khayyam · Rubaiate · 1120 · catrenul 15

Every day spends from a stock no one can refill: Time's flight never pauses to wait for you.

Time is a bird in flight, not a bench you sit on. Two truths overlap: the journey is short (life is finite) and the bird is already airborne (it waits for no one). The mechanism is simple arithmetic: each day consumes a limited, non-renewable stock. A young person postponing dreams assumes there are reserves; at forty they discover half the flight is gone, with nothing chosen.

Why it mattersIt is the clearest argument against procrastination: there is no unlimited 'later'.
