Our actions pass without leaving a trace, yet that does not cancel the value of having lived them.

I leave no trace of wings in the air, but I am glad I have had my flight.Rabindranath Tagore · Păsări răzlețe · 1916 · 207

The worth of your work lies not in the trace it leaves, but in its having been done.

The verse says something about transience: the sky keeps no memory of the flight, yet the bird flew all the same. The mechanism is the split between meaning and recognition — a deed does not need a monument to count. A teacher whose lesson is recorded nowhere, but who changed how a student thinks, lives exactly this reality: the effect exists, the trace does not.

Why it mattersComfort for anyone working without visibility: worth is not measured in traces left behind, but in the fact of having done the work.

Worth weighs the deed, not the trace
