“Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected.”Sun Tzu · Arta războiului · -500 · Capitolul 1
To win, strike at vulnerabilities and act unexpectedly.
Sun Tzu urges exploiting the opponent's vulnerabilities through unexpected actions. Attacking where unprepared means striking unprotected weak points. Appearing where not expected means being unpredictable in movements. For example, a general might attack at night or use a mountain route deemed impossible. The mechanism is simple: the opponent cannot react effectively to what they don't anticipate.
Why it matters In projects or competitions, you can gain an edge through innovation and actions rivals don't foresee.
