If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles.Sun Tzu · Arta războiului · -500 · Capitolul 3

Knowing yourself and your adversary removes the fear of failure in any confrontation.

Sun Tzu argues that victory comes from information, not brute force. Knowing your enemy means understanding their weaknesses, strategies, and limits. Knowing yourself means recognizing your own resources and vulnerabilities. When both are clear, you can anticipate moves and avoid traps. For example, a commander who knows his army is tired won't attack a fresh one.

Why it mattersIn personal or professional life, self-analysis and studying others help you make better decisions and avoid unnecessary conflicts.
