Man has no Body distinct from his Soul.William Blake · Căsătoria Cerului cu Infernul · 1793 · Proverbele Infernului

Body and soul are a single indivisible unit, not two separate entities.

Blake challenges traditional Christian dualism that separates the sinful body from the pure soul. He asserts that physical experiences—pleasure, pain, sensuality—are as spiritual as prayer. When someone feels the joy of dance in every muscle, that joy is no less spiritual than mystical ecstasy. The body is the visible manifestation of the soul.

Why it mattersIt helps us reconcile with our bodies and see physical pleasure as legitimate, not shameful.
