Some are born to sweet delight, some are born to endless night.William Blake · Căsătoria Cerului cu Infernul · 1793 · Proverbele Infernului

Human destiny is unequal, dividing humanity between those born for joy and those born for toil.

Blake observes the fundamental inequity of existence: not all people have the same chances at happiness. Social, psychological, or spiritual conditions divide people between those who live in light and those immersed in darkness. For example, a child raised in a loving family and one who is abandoned have completely different trajectories.

Why it mattersIt sensitizes us to social injustices and urges us to act to reduce inequalities.
