Supreme victory defeats the opponent before the fight even begins.
Sun Tzu advocates strategy over direct confrontation. Destroying an enemy army in a bloody battle is costly and risky. Far more effective is using diplomacy, espionage, psychological maneuvers, or attacking the enemy's plans before they act. For example, you can persuade an opposing faction to ally with you instead of attacking them.
