Desire that does not translate into action becomes toxic to the soul.
Blake sees unacted desire as a force that rots within. This applies not to any whim, but to desires that demand expression yet remain suppressed. A writer who dreams of publishing a novel but never writes will live with a bitterness that poisons all other achievements. Action is the release that transforms desire into life.
