Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.Carl Gustav Jung · Amintiri, vise, reflecții · 1962 · Amintiri, vise, reflecții, Cap. XI, Despre viața de după moarte

True awakening comes from exploring your own inner world, not from seeking meaning in external events.

Jung, a psychoanalyst, observes that people often project internal conflicts onto external reality, living in an illusion. Looking inward means confronting the shadow, dreams, and the personal and collective unconscious. For example, someone who feels persecuted by their boss may discover, through introspection, that they are actually projecting their own self-dissatisfaction onto authority.

Why it mattersIn a culture of constant distraction and seeking external validation, this idea invites you to know your own motivations and fears in order to live authentically.
