Love never weighs its deeds on the scale of good and evil.
Nietzsche distinguishes between calculated actions, which enter the ledger of good and evil, and actions flowing from total giving, where the doer no longer asks whether it is right. Love does not negotiate with the norm: a parent risking their life for a child does not first weigh the moral code. This also yields an ambiguity: the same devotion can produce admirable or disastrous things. A concrete example: a friend publicly defends you even when you are wrong, out of loyalty, not ethical calculation.
Why it matters It helps you understand why acts of love, yours or others', do not fit simple moral judgments and deserve to be viewed on their own terms.
