Better one idea memorized and lived than a library skimmed.
Nietzsche writes short and dense because a thought must be digested, not merely traversed. An aphorism gives you nothing complete: it strikes you, then leaves you to fill in the rest. Whoever memorizes a phrase carries it around and tests it in life, not just on the page. That is the difference between a novel read once and a saying that surfaces exactly when you face a hard decision.
