Awareness of death is the main engine of thought: only it pulls us out of automatic living and forces serious questions.

Nothing makes us think more than knowing that we must die.Georg Christoph Lichtenberg · Caietele de însemnări · 1799 · Caietul G, însemnarea 1

Life gains weight only once you know its limit: measured time forces you to choose now.

As long as life seems unlimited, we postpone: there is no need to decide what matters, everything can wait. The limit changes everything. The fact that time is measured forces us to rank our priorities and ask what is worth living and what is mere habit. This is not morbid thinking but clarity: death is not there to frighten us, but to give weight to our choices.

Why it mattersUseful when you postpone important decisions or feel the days passing identically: the limit is the argument for choosing now.
