The greatest fault is to be afraid of having any fault.Michel de Montaigne · Eseuri · 1580 · III, 2

Fearing to have flaws is the very act of acquiring your greatest flaw.

Montaigne observes that paralyzing perfectionism is a serious weakness. Those afraid of making mistakes avoid all risk, never learn, and remain rigid. Instead of accepting imperfections as a natural part of life, they waste energy in a futile struggle. For example, a writer who never publishes for fear of criticism has a greater fault than any mistake in the text.

Why it mattersIt helps us free ourselves from the pressure of perfection and accept vulnerability. In both professional and personal life, this encourages growth and authenticity.
