Love is so powerful that even the highest gifts cannot fully express it.

“If I had a tongue of fire and a voice of an angel, To tell you how I love you, how I love you.”Mihai Eminescu · Poezii · 1883 · De-aş avea...

Love is so profound that it surpasses any capacity for expression.

Eminescu uses a hyperbole to show the limits of language in the face of love. Even if he had a 'tongue of fire' and a 'voice of an angel,' he still could not say how much he loves. It is an acknowledgment that deep feelings surpass words, and the attempt to express them is always incomplete. Love remains a mystery that cannot be translated.

Eminescu does not just say that love is too big for words. He shows that language itself is a prison. When you try to say 'I love you', the word is empty next to what you feel. So instead of speaking, maybe you should be silent. A long hug, without a single word, says more than an elaborate declaration. Silence thus becomes the most honest language of love. But how do you recognize a silence that expresses love from one that hides indifference?

Why it matters This idea reminds you that sometimes gestures and presence say more than words when you love.
