Success is bought with effort, and failure is paid for with one's own fault.
Iorga formulates a law of moral balance: work is the price of any achievement, and failure is never accidental, but the consequence of personal fault. For example, a student who gets a high grade knows they studied, while one who fails must acknowledge their laziness or carelessness.
