With 2024-2025 as the largest electoral year in history and cheap generative models, 2026 is the year countermeasures become mandatory: C2PA provenance, watermarking, platform-level deepfake detectors, information literacy. Romania has no national election in 2026: the presidential vote was held on 4 and 18 May 2025, and the next are the 2028 local elections and the parliamentary election, due by 20 March 2029 at the latest.
